چکیده

A finite group G acting on an abelian variety A induces a decomposition of A up to isogeny. In this paper we investigate several aspects of this decomposition. We apply the results to the decomposition of the Jacobian variety of a smooth projective curve with G-action. The aim is to express the decomposition in terms of the G-action of the curve. As examples of the results we work out the decompositions of Jacobians with an action of the symmetric group of degree 4, the alternating group of degree 5, the dihedral groups of order 2p and 4p, and the quaternion group.

1 N ov 2 00 3 Semistable abelian Varieties over Q

We prove that for N = 6 and N = 10, there do not exist any non-zero semistable abelian varieties over Q with good reduction outside primes dividing N . Our results are contingent on the GRH discriminant bounds of Odlyzko. Combined with recent results of Brumer–Kramer and of Schoof, this result is best possible: if N is squarefree, there exists a non-zero semistable abelian variety over Q with g...

The problem of enumeration of conjugacy classes of finite abelian subgroups of the mapping class group Mσ of a compact closed surface X of genus σ is considered. A complete method of enumeration is achieved for finite elementary abelian subgroups and steps are taken toward enumera-tion of finite abelian subgroups.

Let G be a finite group. For each integral representation ρ of G we consider ρ−decomposable principally polarized abelian varieties; that is, principally polarized abelian varieties (X,H) with ρ(G)−action, of dimension equal to the degree of ρ, which admit a decomposition of the lattice for X into two G−invariant sublattices isotropic with respect to IH , with one of the sublattices ZG−isomorph...

In this paper we consider the problem of classification of the nilpotent class 2 finitely generated torsion free groups up to the geometric equivalence. By a very easy technique it is proved that this problem is equivalent to the problem of classification of the complete (in the Maltsev sense) nilpotent torsion free finite rank groups up to the isomorphism. This result, allows us to once more c...

— Let F be a number field, abelian over Q, and fix a prime p 6= 2. Consider the cyclotomic Zp-extension F∞/F and denote Fn the n th finite subfield and Cn its group of circular units. Then the Galois groups Gm,n = Gal(Fm/Fn) act naturally on the Cm’s (for any m ≥ n >> 0). We compute the Tate cohomology groups Ĥ(Gm,n, Cm) for i = −1, 0 without assuming anything else neither on F nor on p.
